Software Engineer – Autonomous Perception

Ainstein’s Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Control Systems Team. In this role you will develop and test software for low level sensor drivers, sensor visualization tools, sensor fusion and autonomous perception, and autonomous control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Software Development for the following:
    • Embedded software for sensor integration and test
    • Sensor fusion with radar, camera, LiDAR, etc…
    • Autonomous vehicles such as UAS (drones) and Self-Driving Cars
  • Test and validation for new product development
  • Occasional travel for field test and integration as necessary

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in C / C++ / Python
  • Basic understanding of control systems and autonomous vehicles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skill
  • BS in Computer Science / Aerospace / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent; MS or PhD is a major plus

Desired Experience/Skills

  • Experience with: ROS, Git, MATLAB, Linux
  • Autonomous systems development and test experience
  • Experience with Machine Learning and Computer Vision
  • Experience with open source software projects such as: Ardupilot, PX4, Apollo Auto, Comma.ai

Test Engineer – Autonomous Systems

Ainstein’s Engineering team is looking for a talented, multifaceted Test Engineer who likes to get their hands dirty. In this role you will lead Ainstein’s wide range of test efforts from flight test of small UAS systems and road test of automotive radars to sensor fusion systems test and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Lead standardization of Engineering Department’s test efforts including test case development, test planning, execution, data gathering, and documentation
  • Flight test of new radar sensors, flight control algorithms, and drone systems
  • Development, Validation, and Verification Test of automotive sensing products throughout product development cycle
  • Construction of test equipment for electronic hardware
  • Qualification test of small batch hardware for customer delivery
  • Occasional travel for field test and integration as necessary
  • Will require attainment of a FAA Remote Pilot Certificate

Qualifications

  • Fundamental understanding of engineering principles
  • Basic understanding of radar, control systems, and autonomous vehicles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skill
  • Minimum of BS in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering

Desired Experience/Skills

  • Experience with one or more: C/C++, Python, ROS, MATLAB, Linux

Senior Principal Automotive Radar Engineer / Research Scientist

We are looking for an experienced Automotive Radar Engineer / Research Scientist to lead the engineering and R&D activities for our automotive radar product line. The Sr. Principal Automotive Radar Engineer is responsible for the architecture definition, requirement development, hardware and software design and development, performance analysis, signal processing algorithms design, verification and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new radar systems concepts and signal processing algorithms for automotive radar systems.
  • Support definition of radar system and technology development strategies, roadmaps and execution plans
  • Requirement management and analysis, including requirement allocation, traceability, verification
  • Radar integration and low-level signal processing
  • Radar software development and Radar perception algorithms development

Qualifications

  • MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Mathematics
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in radar systems design, integration, and test, experience in algorithm development is highly desired
  • Experience with C programming language
  • Experience in embedded or real-time software development
  • Experience in waveform definition, detection, and estimation techniques, digital signal processing and specification of subsystem requirements
  • Proven ability to provide technical leadership to a team, coordinating multiple activities and negotiating the resolution.

Principal Engineering Product Manager

This is a highly visible position with a rare opportunity to lead the new line of business from an early phase. He or she reports directly to the CEO. The Product Manager is the “owner” of all aspects of the product from concept to end-of-life. This person defines new product ideas using their knowledge of market dynamics, customer needs, technology readiness and company execution ability to define the right products to meet business objectives.  This position requires a seasoned technologist with proven engineering acumen who is also self-motivated and possess an entrepreneurial spirit.  Successful candidates must be highly adept at organic leadership in a multi-disciplinary fast-design-cycle environment, but will not be long removed from hands-on execution of high-tech engineering.  

This is also a customer-facing role where you build relationships with executives and technical leaders in customer and partner companies.  

Objectives & Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Engineering Product Manager at Ainstein are a blend of traditional technical lead, product management and project management. Understand, internalize, and evangelize the product vision and market opportunity, and work to align engineering efforts with that vision across both short-term development efforts and long-term roadmaps.

  • Engaging customers and our own field staff to collect customer and market requirements
  • Defining new products for the automotive radar product line (product requirements, business case, competitive outlook)
  • Managing core aspects of product for the full life cycle (definition to end-of-life) – target applications, core value proposition, pricing, market opportunity
  • Teaming with engineering teams to schedule requirements, features and functionalities to product line commercial releases
  • Teaming with the field staff to drive internal response to RFI/RFQ’s, provide pricing and terms that can be offered in specific customer negotiations to close a deal
  • Teaming with Go-to-Market managers to align outbound marketing and field sales tools
  • Possibilities for public activities such as acting as product spokesperson with press & analysts as well as public speaking at industry events
  • Global role with domestic and international travel

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • BS in engineering — advanced technical degree or MBA a plus
  • 1-4 years of experience in engineering or product management for Radar product, ideally at an automotive Tier1, OEM, or semiconductor supplier with examples of products that have gone through definition, development and production release
  • Must demonstrate effective ability to lead, drive and influence cross functional teams
  • Ability and judgement to prioritize activity to achieve overall goals in fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • An “ownership” mindset where you feel responsible for the overall success of the product

Sales Engineer 

This position reports to VP of Strategy and supports winning new strategic accounts for our innovative sensors and perception solutions. The portfolio primarily includes cutting-edge radar sensor, sensor fusion and advanced perception solutions enabling self-driving cars, drones, industry automation and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Articulates the Company vision on technologies and solutions towards the Customer; Establishes new accounts by identifying potential customers; planning and conducting sales calls.
  • Leads the technical relationship towards the Customer. Partner with customers to gather customer requirements and recommend Ainstein solutions and customization requirements.
  • Leads solution definition and solution design both internal within Company as well as towards the Customer. Being the customer champion internally.
  • Provides product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepares cost estimates by studying customer requirements, consulting with engineers and other internal professional and technical personnel.
  • Partners with R&D team and sales team in providing customer facing documentations, such as customer specific product offer, product manual, technical specifications, and product and service quote.
  • Develops customer’s staff by providing technical information and training.
  • Prepares sales engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales information and product/application trends.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience with mmWave, cellular technology or sensor technology
  • Experience in digital signal processing and C programming desired
  • Excellent inter-personal skills

  • Proven experience selling technology products and services

Education
