Director of Engineering

Ainstein is looking for a Director of Engineering to join the leadership of R&D group at Lawrence, KS.
As an expert in your engineering field, you will be in charge of the electro-mechanical architecture, supervising the electrical engineering design and architecture of our custom systems. Candidates must have outstanding technical and architectural capabilities, strong development methodologies and excellent management skills.

Job Scope and Responsibilities:

  • Deliberate with management, production, and marketing & sales staff on the possible requirements and procedures for a project;
  • Organize and manage projects, making detailed plans that work towards the fulfillment of a set objective;
  • Examine technology, organizational resources and the demands of the market in order to plan or give procedures for projects which are practicable or possible;
  • Supervise the development and maintenance of staff abilities and suitability in the organization
  • Direct the negotiation of research contracts and also prepare the company’s budget, bids, and contracts
  • Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the organization
  • Perform administrative functions such as evaluating and writing reports, approving expenditures concerning projects.

Qualifications:

  • Outstanding technical and architectural capabilities, strong product or project development methodologies and excellent management skills.
  • Proven positive attitude and great team player.
  • Inspire & lead the electrical engineering efforts, help our rapidly growing team, technology challenges and expanding product offering. 
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or  equivalent experience. 
  • 7+ years of experience as a hardware technical leader working across one or more of the following areas: electrical systems or software.

Desirable Experience/Skills:

  • Basic understanding of radar sensors
  • Experience with electronics systems, radar, cameras, displays, batteries, or other sensors etc
  • Significant background or interests in start-up companies

Senior Embedded Systems Engineer

Ainstein’s Engineering team is looking for a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer. In this role you will lead development and test of embedded software and systems for new radar sensors and systems in consumer and commercial products.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, Develop, Code, Test, and Debug embedded software (C/C++/Python) for radar sensors and product development
  • Embedded system development for new radar and camera based products
  • Define, analyze, and review software/system requirements for custom development
  • Test and validation for new product development
  • Occasional travel for field test and integration as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in C, C++, and/or Python for embedded applications
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Git, Linux / Embedded Linux, Linux Kernel, Petalinux, Yocto, FPGA / VHDL / Verilog / Vivado, Code Composer Studio, ROS
  • Embedded systems development and test experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Minimum 8 years working experience

FPGA Engineer

Ainstein’s Engineering team is looking for a FPGA Engineer. In this role you will develop and test FPGA firmware and embedded systems for new radar sensors and systems in consumer and commercial products.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, Develop, Code, Test, and Debug FPGA firmware in Verilog/SystemVerilog for radar sensors and product development

Lead Radar Engineer 

Ainstein’s Engineering team is looking for a Lead Radar Engineer. This position will provide technical leadership for a radar development project. The successful candidate will be responsible for the radar system requirements definition, architecture design, key hardware and software requirements and performance, product design and development, validation, and production planning. The successful candidate will work with hardware, software, system, and test engineers to ensure design requirements are met.

Qualifications

  • This position requires advanced knowledge in radar systems and principles of operation, and extended experience in radar system design and development, preferable for automotive applications.
  • 10 years of experience in a relevant industry and a graduate degree in engineering or science are required.
  • Master degree or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, or physics
  • The following experiences are preferred: radar system design, waveform design, signal processing, electronics, calibration, antenna design, target tracking and classification.
  • The following skills are preferred: Matlab (or equivalent), C/C++/Python, FPGA, embedded software, requirements management tool, architecture design tool, project management tool, MS office. The role may require travel to Asia and other locations to work with development team and customers.

Radar Systems Engineer

We are looking for a Systems Engineer/Analyst to support our automotive radar product development. This person will work with radar product lead to define application and system requirements, develop radar performance analysis, design test and verification requirements; He/she will also work with hardware/software engineers to ensure product design meets the system requirements; He/she will work with test team to ensure all system requirements are met. This person will perform design analysis, develop signal processing algorithms, analyze test data, and prepare test and verification report.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Perform requirement analysis and flowdown; Define verifications test plan
  • Develop systems performance analysis and prediction
  • Work with systems team to define sensor architecture, and radar signal processing algorithms
  • Work with HW/SW team to ensure subsystems meet their specifications
  • Develop tools for test data analysis
  • Work with product/test teams to identify problems and resolve issues arising during development and test phase
  • Prepare documentation for system work product

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a relevant engineering development environment
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience using Matlab or similar tools for data analysis and algorithms development
  • Experience with automotive radar systems or other radar systems highly preferred
  • Familiar with requirements development and management
  • Good communication skills

Test Engineer

Ainstein Boston Office is looking for a Test Engineer to design and develop test and validation equipment for our automotive radar products. This person will work with product designers to identify testing needs, design tests to validate our products, develop test methods and the equipment needed to execute them, and work closely with technicians and outside providers to execute tests and analyze data for the team.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Work with systems/product engineer to define test requirements
  • Design test methods and equipment
  • Specify and source test instrumentation
  • Lead test team to set up and run tests
  • Work with hardware/software engineering team to improve test process
  • Prepare test documents, including test procedure, tools, and reports
  • Work with test/product team to identify root-cause of failures and drive resolution

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with test engineering with proficiency in: test development, fixture design, and data analysis
  • BS or MS in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience with designing fixtures and tools in Solidworks or similar
  • Familiar with basic electrical test tools like oscilloscope and multimeters
  • Good communication skills

Field Applications Engineer

Ainstein’s business development and client support team is looking for a Field Applications Engineer. This position reports to the Vice President of Strategy and Partnerships and is a key technical leader between our company and our current and prospective business partners.  The company portfolio primarily includes cutting-edge radar sensors, sensor fusion and advanced perception solutions that enable self-driving cars, drones, smart city applications, industrial automation and more. 

Responsibilities:

  • Articulates the company vision on technologies and solutions to the customer; Establishes new accounts by identifying potential customers; planning and conducting sales calls.
  • Leads the technical relationship between the company and the customer. Partner with customers to gather requirements and recommend Ainstein services and solutions.  
  • Communicates market insights and trends to product development and engineering teams.
  • Leads solution definition and solution design both within the company as well as with the customer. Acts as the customer champion internally.
  • Provides product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information to customer.  
  • Prepares cost estimates and proposals by studying customer requirements, consulting with engineers and other internal professional and technical personnel.
  • Partners with R&D team and business development team in providing customer facing documents, such as customer specific product offer, product manual, technical guides/specifications, and product and service quote.  Will also be responsible for working with R&D to develop and maintain a User Hub.  
  • Develops customer’s staff by providing technical information and training.
  • Prepares sales engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales information and product/application trends.
  • Travel will be required for customer visits as well as for industry trade shows, events, and training.  

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years experience with mmWave, cellular technology, or sensor technology is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics. Masters or MBA desired
  • Experience in digital signal processing and C/C++/Python programming desired
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

This position reports to the Vice President of Strategy and Partnerships.  While we are currently looking for an intern to join our team, there is potential for this to become a full-time role. Responsibilities:

  • Manage online sales and order fulfillment
  • Responds to inbound leads and properly engages business development team
  • Helps to support the business development team in the preparation of cost estimates and proposals 
  • Prepares customer reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales information and product/application trends
  • Updates website and social properties

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Business, or Marketing
  • On track to receive Bachelor’s Degree prior to June of 2021
  • Experience with sensor technology is preferred, but not required
  • Graphic Design and/or WordPress experience is a plus
