LR-D1 Pro for Aerial Target Drones & Tactical UAVs

OVERVIEW

Ainstein’s LR-D1 Pro is our newest and most high-performance radar altimeter, designed to provide precision in altitude and velocity measurements for up to 500 m. By employing a unique system of 60 GHz antenna at low altitudes, and a 24 GHz antenna at high altitudes, this altimeter can handle flights and maneuvers both close to the ground, or high up in the air. This is the radar for you if exceptional accuracy and consistent performance, regardless of the terrain or environmental condition, is important to you. Clients that have had great success with this radar have utilized it in their high-speed target drone fleets and tactical UAV applications.

Key Benefits of the LR-D1 Pro for Aerial Targets:

  • More reliable in over water flights than lidar or laser
  • Durable, ruggedized encasing design
  • Accuracy in high speed flights
  • Low altitude precision, down to the centimeter level

Who the LR-D1 Pro is Ideal for:

  • Tactical drones and long range UAVs
  • Target training drones and UAVs
  • Recon and surveillance missions
  • Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) missions
  • Low altitude maneuver projects

Why Use a Radar Altimeter?

  • To perform high-fidelity UAV terrain-following
  • Laser altimeters are less effective over water
  • Accurate performance in adverse environment such as fog, rain, etc.
  • Can change between terrains without complications

How the LR-D1 Pro Works on Your UAV:

  • The LR-D1 Pro comes out of the box with either 232, 422, UART, or CAN interface, as well as connector and cable.
  • Using an interface to TTL converter as well as a TTL-USB it easily connects into the USB port of a Raspberry Pi, which can connect to the Pixhawk through a serial connection, or other flight controller.
  • Mount the radar on the underside of the UAV frame, where it has a clear field of view.
  • In the Ardupilot or PX4 software, some parameters will require to be changed according to the set up guides. Reboot the flight controller. The sensor is ready for operation on the UAV.
  • Create a detailed flight plan for the specific mission at a constant required altitude and parameters while maneuvering Beyond Visual Line of Sight.
  • Begin the flight with surface tracking enabled and watch the automated UAS maintain accurate AGL altitude to down to the nearest centimeter, ensuring safe and accurate surveillance.
